Enabling the EPEL Repository on Centos 7

The EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux) repository must be installed and enabled in order to install most applications.  To do so run the following commands on your respective distributions to install and enable it for your system architecture.

On RHEL/CentOS – 64-bit OS

wget dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/Packages/e/epel-release-7-11.noarch.rpm
rpm -ihv epel-release-7-11.noarch.rpm

or alternatively…and more simply:

yum install -y epel-release
